AZU admits that changes have to be made if he is supposed to fight for global awards

Jeremiah Azu admits that he has to return to the drawing board if he wants to fight outdoors to fight world championship medals after having briefly started in his offer for the 100m final.

The Cardiff Sprinter was fourth in its semi-finals and rose 10.05 seconds, which is respectable, but will not cut off at this elite level.

Azu was in the first of three semi -finals, in which two athletes from each race automatically qualified and the rest sweated for the two fastest losing stains.

The 24-year-old had to sit next to the route in a hotseat and watch in the next race to see whether his time would be made from third place, which comes from teammate Zharnel Hughes.

Azu was phlegmatic after the race and had an excellent season, especially indoors, where he won the 60 -meter world championship.

But it is in the outdoor meeting where athletes are ultimately judged and he knows that he has a big low season ahead of him.

“I think I got out great, changed well and held my shape,” he said.

“It was probably my average this year, so I was very consistent.

“But you have to be better against the best in the world.

“I ended the race healthy and I have the season next week, so I will take a few days off and then prepare for it.

“I have my family in the stands and will hang out with them for a few days, go Tokyo.”

The 100 -M final, which followed only two hours after the Semis, was won by Jamaica at an angle Seville in a quick 9.77 seconds.

Sevilla led a Jamaican one-two two two of Kishane Thompson, while defending champion Noah Lyles was a distant third and could not really challenge.

Great Britain had no one in the race after Hughes had suffered a similar fate. While the 30-year-old Hughes Azu had a dispute, he was thrown out of the final in the last semi-finals.

“It’s strange,” Azu admitted.

“I am never one who hopes that someone will not cut off well. I have ensured that I kept myself in this position. And I only asked God for his will, you know.

“Ultimately, that’s over and I can’t be too discouraged. I did my best, but my best wasn’t good enough.”
